Opening plans and model games
Remembering an opening line gets you to a position. Plans and model games help you understand what to do next.
Opening plans
When plans are available for a position, open Plans to explore the ideas for continuing from there. Training games can also show opening plans after your saved repertoire moves end.
Plans are not available for every position. If the app says No plans available for this position, that position does not currently have a plan to show.
Model games
Model games let you play through examples from a position and see how the opening develops into a full game. You can step through the moves, replay the game, and choose another example.
In settings, you can choose High-level online games, Master games, or Online and master games as the source. Chessbook selects examples intended to be instructive for the side you are studying.
How should I use them?
Start from a position you reach in your repertoire. Read the plan where one is available, then play through a model game and look for the pawn breaks, piece placements, and exchanges that put it into practice.
A model game is an example, not a promise that your opponent will follow the same line. Use the ideas alongside repertoire practice and training games.
